Redlands | Henry Bush Podcast

Introduction

Mike Davidson, Marketing Director for Redlands Henry Bush, joins to discuss his company and its operations. With over a year in the role, Mike has both professional expertise and personal business experience that informs his strategies.

Company Overview

Redlands Henry Bush Plumbing Heating and Air has been in operation for 127 years. Known primarily for its plumbing services, the company is also focusing on expanding its HVAC services. Its long-standing reputation is a key asset.

Rebranding Efforts

The company is rebranding to shift away from being solely associated with plumbing. Changes include updated trucks, larger logos, and removing the “little plumber” mascot. The goal is to modernize the brand while maintaining its established identity.

HVAC Growth Strategies

Redlands Henry Bush is leveraging tools like Service Titan and Marketing Pro for efficient operations and lead generation. Marketing efforts include email campaigns, text messages, billboards, and community events, with a focus on expanding HVAC services in nearby areas like Yucaipa.

Business Goals for HVAC

Currently, HVAC accounts for about 20% of the business, with plumbing dominating the remainder. The company aims for a 50-50 split between plumbing and HVAC to grow its team and service offerings.

Seasonal Marketing and Maintenance

Plumbing services are steady year-round, while HVAC is seasonal. Campaigns target first-quarter preparations for summer, emphasizing the importance of maintenance plans to prevent costly repairs during peak seasons.

Maintenance Plan Benefits

Maintenance plans, priced between $25 and $35 per month, include HVAC and plumbing services, priority scheduling, and discounts on repairs. These plans ensure preventive care and minimize emergency costs for customers.

Service Area

The company serves the Inland Empire, including Redlands, Palm Springs, Ontario, Rancho, Corona, Moreno Valley, and Riverside. Maintenance plans apply to the entire service area, ensuring widespread customer support.

Homeowner Tips

For HVAC, customers should regularly check and replace filters. For plumbing, visual inspections can identify issues like rusted valves. Routine checks help avoid major problems.

Company Culture

The company emphasizes family values, honesty, and integrity. Daily meetings reinforce these principles, creating a strong internal culture that resonates with customers. Employee recognition and support foster a close-knit team.

Marketing Challenges

Plumbing and HVAC aren’t inherently exciting, so the marketing strategy highlights the team and company culture. Social media campaigns, such as a ‘12 Days of Christmas” series, connect with the community and showcase the company’s personality.

New Podcast Initiative

The company plans to launch a podcast featuring technicians, managers, and industry guests. The roundtable format will cover business topics and industry insights. The studio will also produce educational and how-to content for customers.

Automatic Water Shut-Off Valves

The company offers automatic shut-off valves that detect leaks and prevent costly water damage. These systems are a significant investment but can save homeowners tens of thousands in repairs.

Growth Plans

With 70 employees currently, the company aims to grow to 125 employees within two years. Achieving this goal depends on expanding revenue and maintaining strong team values.

Closing Remarks

Mike highlights the importance of quality service and invites listeners to explore maintenance plans and follow Redlands Henry Bush on their website and social media for updates.

00:00:00 so I’m here with Mike Davidson from Redlands and Henry Bush and HB employment company out of Redlands you’ve been with them for a few years I think now I’m actually coming up on one year so it’s fairly yeah January marketing director marketing director yeah nice awesome and you also have some of your own businesses so you have a lot of experience in this area uh but today I’m going to have you back so we can talk about some of that stuff more but today we’re going to focus on Redmonds Henry Bush so just tell us little about

00:00:28 yourself uh your company and your involvement the company sure uh my name is Mike Davidson so I’m I’m the marketing director for Redlands and Henry Bush Plumbing Heating and Air um we are located in Redlands obviously uh been we we we our company’s been around for 127 years now so it’s crazy yeah it’s a long time uh the the company is uh Plumbing Heating and Air so we focus we’re we’re very Plumbing related our our HVAC side of things is something that we’re actually focusing on for 2025 to really try to build that thing

00:01:01 um people know us for plumbing so our our you know our our little plumber is kind of our our guy that we we have out there that’s our face yeah so people see that you know it’s kind of but HVAC is something that we’re really pushing this year and you know trying to build that side of things okay just tell us a little bit about what okay so you’ve done Plumbing for for 120 years how long have you guys done HVAC uh we have done you know I don’t know the exact number of years for that but it’s um at least for probably

00:01:33 the last 30 to 40 years somewhere around there still I mean bigger longer than most companies of exist it is yeah we actually intentionally we’re we’re taking that little plumber and you know if people see him he’s always had this little plumber on his hat um that’s going away so we’re we’re he’s not gonna be known as a little plumber anymore it’s part of our strategy to kind of get that off the face of he’s just going to be the Redland Henry Bush guy yeah we’re trying to figure out what that is

00:01:58 actually yet no we don’t have a name for him yet so now he’s just the the you know little technician or whatever you want to call him Roy a yeah Bush you just call him Henry Bush right should just be hen yeah it’s it man now he’s he we’re actually intentionally taking that off there part of the the new look we’re actually rebranding like the trucks are getting U if you seen before there’s a lot going on with him there’s that little plumber we’re still going to have him on there now the logo is huge so we’ve blown that

00:02:23 up on the trucks trying to go with kind of a new updated look for everything but we’re going away from that plumbing you know forace yeah gotcha so a big push is to get more of the HVAC in yeah and bring that in so what are some of the strategies that you’re that you guys are thinking about like you just kind of touched on kind of rebranding a little bit what else are you kind of working on to in the future well we’ve kind of we’ve we’ve T taken on this uh new software with our with our existing on

00:02:49 so service Titan is what we use to operate that’s kind of our operating system um this year we brought in marketing Pro which is kind of their marketing direct you know lead generation software that goes with that yeah um this year is going to be we we’ve really started hitting hard on like email campaigns text message things like that so it’s a lot of HVAC related post directly we’re tying them in together with multiple platforms with you know Billboards um email text we’re doing um a lot of events we do a ton of

00:03:18 them I think last year did like 40 something events so yeah it’s like it’s every weekend almost I feel like it was probably three weekends out every month that I was out there doing stuff which is good though because it’s you know we’re really pushing in yukpa that’s been a f for us to get out to that Community because it’s our neighbor you know for next door so it makes sense um we got a great relationship with the city of ukai but so those people have have us out of things we we promote and we’re actually starting to see people

00:03:41 you know come in and say hey we we see you we use you specifically because we saw you at this event all the time um but and it’s all kind of you know direct mail stuff everything’s just kind of working together but it’s really HVAC focused this year gotcha gotcha what um with and and you don’t have to answer question like I don’t get two percentage wise what’s HVAC of your business and what are you hoping for it to be uh right now well so our plumbing new construction is probably our biggest part of our business yeah that’s a very

00:04:12 big part Plumbing Service is a a good chunk of it too but I’d say hfc is probably around 20% of our business and what is it go to what you is it like to be 50 or I’d like to see it yeah if in my mind you know ideally I’d like to see like a 50-50 split on plumbing and HVAC for service side of things and also because we we want to build our team we have a goal that we’re trying to meet in the next couple years and a specific number and and how many people we’re going to have and so building the amount

00:04:38 of technicians and have the jobs to handle that it’s going to be nice because we want those guys to be you know they’re the the heart of our business so we want them to be busy and keep them busy yeah well you know they got families to take care of and everything like that too so we want to make sure that what we’re doing is facilitating them having you know having success in what they’re doing on the the new construction for plumbing um are you guys getting that stuff for the h too new construction we do yeah we do so so

00:05:03 it’ll be kind of a lot of our marketing is more service related um the plumbing the new construction stuff is comes in a different more relationship stuff it is yeah it’s something you you can’t just go to events and expect that to generate new construction type of things so it’s a different bidding process and and you know we have our team that handles that part of it how do you seasonally approach the the different marketing like what services do you push when it gets cold hot um plumbing and heating HB

00:05:30 like it’s cooling off now yeah Plumbing is uh it’s kind of a year round thing because it just happens whenever there’s not really weather related unless you have you know pipe freezes up but out here that’s not really a thing for us um HVAC is super seasonal so like right now we’re planning early first quarter we’re going to start planning to push the the haax I thingss for the summer you know get ready for your everybody we want people to do their maintenances and to come out and get their systems ready

00:05:55 make sure they’re working for when it’s 110 degrees outside you know well and if they actually like um so we’ve worked with you we’ve worked with other companies in the past right so I know that there’s that definite seasonality U and I’m wondering like if people really took that time and spent the hundred bucks maybe I don’t know I don’t know the numbers I won’t speak to that but you know that whatever to get the checkup or the maintenance or be on that plan if they’re not going to get that like oh no I’ve suddenly cranked my

00:06:18 heater my excuse me my air conditioner and it’s breaking right CU you go in and people are spending thousands to fix their air conditioners when it seems like if they were on one of those maintenance plans dude I can’t tell you that maintenance plan is like people don’t realize how important it is we have a maintenance program where it’s 25 to 35 bucks a month and essentially what that does is we get our guys out there three times a year they do two HVAC ones and one one Plumbing one so they come

00:06:42 out flush a water heater but this year it happened to me we kicked on our AC and it and the thing died and I work for the thank God I work for HVB company but the whole system went down it was 16 17 years old but now you’re left for a week in 10 and something degree weather and you’re dying in your house so what we do with those maintenance plans is people sign up with us they pay a monthly fee it gets our guys out there they change the filters they check everything they always do it right before the season

00:07:05 starts that way they’re ready for any unexpected stuff so yeah they’ve checked if everything looks I there’s still things that come up for sure but if if if you’re on the maintenance plan and something does happen do you get any kind of like you priority show up for an issue or like any discounts on part like is there any benefits that come with that besides the maintenance yeah the main plan so you get a dedicated phone line which is a hotline lead you right to us and you get first first in line

00:07:32 without anybody it’s we even pushed other appointments aside if you’re a member with us uh you get 10 to 15% off depending on what level you have so if you’re spending $10,000 on a system I that’s a considerable amount of money you know 1,500 bucks off save you quite a bit well hopefully you’re not spending 10,000 because it’s been maintain right but stuff I mean yeah well you know if they come out and they do these maintenance checks and they they they’ll kick on the system make sure everything

00:07:55 works and and this is when it’s 75 80 degrees out and they can get if it’s maintained then usually the big ticket items don’t happen as often because we’re keeping it you know it’s like ear changes for your car right same kind of that’s that’s the whole point of gotcha so what um you’re you’re based in Redlands but I know you know I know more than most obviously because we work with you guys but uh your service area speak to that a little bit about how what your service area mainly is and does this

00:08:22 kind of Maintenance priority stuff apply to the whole service area kind of talk about that a little yeah our service area is the Inland Empire so it’s basically uh you know we go we in Redlands we go as far as um Palm Springs that area for for large jobs maybe even a little bit further uh but but that direction we go maybe Palm Springs and we go to Ontario Rancho uh Corona and then Marino Valley Riverside kind of that area Paris is like the very outside of our border there yeah um but we actually no like mene Hemet that kind of

00:08:53 stuff not not generally it’s uh it’s a little bit outside because you know you got to make it cost effective for our guys cuz they a whole day just going out there yeah so um but yeah that’s kind of our service area those maintenance plans apply to everything so anywhere anywhere that we service then they’re they’re eligible for that too okay that’s I should check that out then because when side we should have that dude it’s worth it it’s it’s not expensive you know 25 bucks you spend that on on a Apple you

00:09:18 know anything or coffee you got it man it’s just once a month it’s that and it it just recurring and and we come out and take care of we PR schedule all your appointments so that way you don’t have to worry about reminding yourself so makes it easy on the HVAC side you have the main program do you have something like that on the plumbing side uh it’s all tied into the same one so if you go with the silver which is a 25 doesn’t have any Plumbing included with it um the $35 gold membership which has all

00:09:41 the benefits that includes a water heater flush and then we come out we exercise all your valves and make sure that everything’s working it’s not you know something’s not broken if you got to sh your water off and you you haven’t touched that valve in yours and you go to touch and it breaks off you’re in big trouble gotcha so that’s kind of something that we check on there but the yeah you just never know so when I I my first house I moved in and I I just wanted to change like the handles and the faucet

00:10:07 in the bathtu right like it should have been simple take it off put it back on right so I get that stuff from Home Depot and I go out and I go to turn off the main and it snaps right it’s like old rusty pipes so my main brak’s coming in so like like seven trips to Home Depot later and like this weird L jig Jerry rig Plumbing connection to try to make everything work all to change like a $10 thing so all dud people don’t realize is like if if you have someone that comes out checks on you three times

00:10:34 a year that kind of stuff like you said you got to go seven times to go find the right parts if you let the guys whether it’s us or any other company you know let the professionals handle it it it saves them in the long run you know this little investment you put into it’s your home it’s the most important thing you have well they would have seen my very clearly on the edge of collapsing and pipe coming up into that you know what I mean like yeah our guys will come in check all that they make recommendations

00:10:57 and one thing that that’s unique about us is we the depending on who you go to out in the in this industry you can find some really great companies or some really bad ones you know our company is very um Family motivated we we we care about the customers not just saying that to try to sell a job for us but we we teach our guys they have meetings every day of the week and and a big focus of it is not being or being honest and being you know making sure our customers feel like they trust us and that they

00:11:26 know we’re there for them and not to just sell them something because we want to make a buck on it are your techs incentivized based on the work that they sell they are yeah so that’s kind of industry standard you know people are incentivized by that but also we we try to teach a culture of of what’s more important you know the money is great but but at the same time if you make a big you make a large amount on on one job and then the customer doesn’t feel good about it they’re not coming back so

00:11:53 we try to build this idea of hey you know do the right thing and then when you guys come back they’re they’re going to call us to come back and they remember text I I think it’s cool because we see a lot of the Google reviews come in and they name texts specifically because our guys are are great you know they they really care about these customers and so people will call them out like Jonathan or Noah and they’ll say hey he was great we want to have him back and we get phone calls requesting them specifically it’s kind

00:12:15 of cool I get your you know I get copies of of the reviews they come through right um and I’ve maybe seen one low not even that low but one low review in a sea of five star review like if I see that it’s your email for it I’ll click on it real quick but it’s like I know it’s a 99% chance it’s a positive review that I don’t have to you up about for sure I feel good about that as an employee of this company it makes me you know I I I know how it feels to have somebody come to your house that wants to take $10,000

00:12:44 from you so to know as an employee I sit and watch how this all works and they and you know what they teach these guys it’s cool it’s great man that’s awesome really I think it speaks to our longevity 127 years is a long time and so to last there’s got to be a reason for it yeah if nothing else 120 year reputation is something that you’re going to want to guard right it’s not something you’re want go to the side after 120 years um I’m sure the owner or use the marketing or even the sales rep or the service tech doesn’t want to be

00:13:11 the guy that killed the 120 right by by trying to make an extra bug so no no it is a it’s something that we take very good care of like even everything we do is very well thought out it’s you know it’s um personalizing our business while keeping our good name is is you know it’s that’s Forefront of my mind when we Market it’s it’s very thought out it’s not like let’s just throw out something that might make somebody upset it’s it’s we do things that hold our values you know no there might be one that’s a little polarizing

00:13:40 coming but well you know we got to spice it up a little bit but you know I think I think it’ll be good we’ll leave that one for later well that’ll be a surprise it’s be watch for it it’s no you know stuff like that it’s it’s uh we we do go with the trends but we try to be respectful with whatever is going on you know make sure that it it stays true to what we believe in nice yeah um on just on the side um tell me a little bit about and it’s something that we’ worked into you know a landing page for you the

00:14:05 uh automatic shut off valve um CU we just had a slab leak recently I know how much that can cost and like even looking at the meter it didn’t seem like it wasn’t like oh gosh there’s clearly a leak you know what I mean I think something like that would pick it up so U I forget what you call it but um tell us about so the there brands names Mo and flow is one of the main names of that we we actually have our own our own label on this one so it’s it’s our automatic water shut off valve excuse me what it does

00:14:35 is it essentially is a thing that that attaches your plumbing system and it’s it’s you know it’s computer generated it’s this thing can tell up to like a single drip that’s coming out consistantly out of your faucet and what it does if it knows there’s a leak going on it’ll shut your water off in your house so there it eliminates this whole thing where you come home from a weekend or whatever it is and something’s busted in the ceiling or wherever in the wall and your house is blooded you know it’s

00:15:00 it takes that completely away does it go on the I assume it goes before the normal or after the normal shut off valve it’s going to be right in your like coming in from your main line and it’ll be right before before it gets in to anything in the house so that way it’s branches well yeah we we’ve had I came home a couple years ago my my wife and I went to Vegas and we came back and we’d had a guy come out remodeled the bathroom and they’ put like this the tub wasn’t done they’ put like this some

plumbing heating and air conditioning henry bush podcast

00:15:26 kind of temporary uh tap on it yeah I come home dude and there is hot water that’s been spraying for like 24 hours this is no lie in our shower but it was also spraying outside of the shower because it wasn’t like a directed faucet so dude I come in and the half of our house is completely flooded um the kids rooms that’s all all our kids’ rooms that’s that side and the whole thing is completely flooded I mean just ruined ruined half our house they had to take out the drywall the flooring the carpeting everything was shot that was

00:15:55 such a process we had the water heater blow in like the fires running non-stop loud forever and tearing it all h y well it’s like that you know the the automatic shut off FS are it’s it’s not like a $5 doll piece it’s it’s it’s not it’s costing the sense of nobody wants to spend money on something that that’s not happened yet right but what does it cost with labor essentially to P it kind of depends but you you’re probably in the 1,500 to 2,000 range somewhere in there don’t quote me on that but it’s

00:16:24 somewhere in that um but when you come home to something where now you spent 25,000 because you’re half your house house is shot it’s I mean it’s not no yeah cheap insurance you don’t have to do anything with it it just stays on and it shuts off and if you come home and it’s shut off then you can you turn it back on but otherwise you know that ways you can check it do you does it does it give you like do you get alerts on your phone or anything is it tied to like an app or anything or is it just doing its

00:16:45 own thing that one does its own thing it doesn’t have any kind of kind of TI you needed but I’m just curious but there’s other stuff there’s like things these things called flood buzzes which are cool that would that detect like water starting to come into your let’s say you put it on the bottom of your cabinet and then it actually links up to your app on your phone and it tells you so there’s there’s a few different pieces of that which we usually will install when we do those too so it’s it’s a part of it but

00:17:05 yeah it’s I mean it’s it can save you a ton of money dude yeah and heartbreak I mean nothing worse than walking in you’re like what do I do well yeah and it’s it’s we’ve been through it with a water heater and then we also had some kind of a Plumbing Leak in the kitchen kitchen end up getting remodeled because it has like you think okay ideally like it breaks and there’s a little patch of drywall or whatever but for us like it’s not our house so it’s got asbest so now they’re like you know they’re tearing it all out

00:17:31 essentially right all everything so which is good and bad ni nice have a new kitchen but the months of insurance and a mess dude the stuff like that is just it’s not easy no matter what you do gotcha hey on the on the recurring plans um I should know this because I I built your website but is there is there a place where people can buy that or do they have to contact you there is so apply for it or whatever there’s a a site on the or there’s a page on website where people can go on and get the information right now um that’s

00:18:02 something I’m going to work with on you but we do want to build that thing out to be where people can sign up online and and just get a membership um but a lot of people like to talk to us and find out exactly what that is you know you know what’s the value what’s the benefits of it and just reading it’s one thing but when you talk to somebody and we can explain it what’s going on or or what what the cost is for and how that works yeah yeah I imagine 99% of this items are still going to be in person

00:18:25 they do yeah a lot of most of them are sold when techs go on jobs you know and something happens and they it’s an opportunity for them or they get a new unit if they buy a system from us they get a oneyear uh maintenance warranty or maintenance PL so they’re on that kind get is it like a they get it for a year as like kind of a well to new unit right but it’s also kind of a trial to see what it’s like to them come out y yeah you get your normal warranty on that thing but then also you get the oneye

00:18:48 maintenance plan that way it kind of introduces them to that and kind of see the value in it and stuff but um you know the the generally the TCH sell those things Tex go out and do the job or they’re they’ve talked to him whatever and then they mention this this maintenance plan they can explain it to them and then that’s that’s most them come from you know what are some things um that you’ve seen so there’s maintenance it’s you guys right and that’s important too but what are some things on the plumbing and

00:19:14 HVAC side that people should be doing regularly keeping an eye on um so that between the two of you like you guys coming out and doing your thing and then them kind of changing their filters every month or whatever it might be are there some things like that that people should be doing uh yeah easy thing is check your filters I mean that’s one way that’s one of the things we change out in those plans so filters are usually going to be in your ceiling near your return and you just open up that little grate and you

00:19:39 can see if it’s dirty and if you want to change it out you can because some depending on where you live if you’re in a high dust area or something that’s or fires happen the Empire dude I know it’s it’s all but that’s that’s easy one they can literally pull that thing out change it out or we do it for them in the maintenance plants they have to mess with it okay um on the plumbing side is there any I can’t think of anything on top of my head but is there anything on the plumbing side we should be doing you

00:19:59 just visual stuff I mean you just kind of checking to see if what what if things are valves are looking old and cracked or if you got something that’s rusted and and just kind of keep an eye on anything that looks out of out of the normal you know yeah makes those are kind of harder to get into because Plumbing a lot of it’s underground or it’s in walls it’s it’s not as easy as HX is you can see the whole unit you know yeah but yeah that’s generally just just visual checks on that okay so you you clearly have a very amazing outward

00:20:24 people folks and I also saw your like Employee of the Month wall and recognition there so uh could you tell us just a little bit about the culture and how you think that the internal culture of the company is one of the things that you know helps you be the company that you guys are yeah well you know your your where you start with everything is comes from the office comes from your team that’s where where that culture builds and our office staff and there is is something that one of our main focuses we have regular

00:20:47 meetings about is is our our values you know our values is is this actual word we call great so it’s broken down into a bunch of words and it’s it’s a long thing to get into but it kind of encompasses everything that that we believe in and that we pass along to the the guys who are out in the field and everything you know to Marshall is our he has uh daily meetings with these guys we sit down and I go out and sit in the meetings too because I think it’s great to be a part of we like to intermingle

00:21:12 everybody I like being a part of the technician side of things and and getting to know those guys especially in marketing it’s you know to be connected with that side is is tough to do normally right right but intentionally I’ve gotten involved with them not only because they’re great guys and it’s just a way to for me to connect both sides of those things for cuz when you have your office staff upstairs and you have your texts usually they’re completely separated right our company is is strange because everybody’s really close

00:21:37 our texts come up and visit all the time and and you know we get involved with them um but family and and honesty and integrity is like that’s what Tyler our owner he pushes that with everybody that’s like that comes first that’s awesome I mean it’s the only guy I’ve ever worked for who we go if if something’s up like let’s say my daughter needs to there something comes up I got to pick up my kid or or there’s a emergency some time he he without hesitation is like dude go that’s that comes first always pushes that and it’s

00:22:04 not even there’s I mean there’s no BS to it it’s just always that’s the priority absolutely that’s my business and I think that’s I think it’s important right because you spend so much time with your job it’s taught me being there for just a short amount of time been there for a year it’s taught me things I’ve haven’t learned in 20 years of how you handle people and you how you run your business um I mean it’s just invaluable the type of stuff you get get to learn there with this stuff yeah I took just I won’t dig into this too deep

00:22:32 but I’ve taken a fractional CMO job for that reason oh no Kidd to be part of a bigger company just kind of see they use uh eos’s like business model business system so I’m like I want a chance to see how they run their meetings how the culture of the the company’s handled and what the community service stuff like that does so gives you a different perspective on it when you when you’re stuck in your because you know I was running my own businesses for a while and we we were small business but you

00:22:55 don’t see this when you have 70 people at your job it’s a different Outlook especially we have about 70 yeah so I mean in the next two years we want to we have goals that we want to meet I can’t get in the numbers but as far as like people numbers we want to be like 125 people so there’s a lot of growth that’s going to happen and we’re doing that through through just pushing our big Revenue growth it’s huge difference yeah it’s a big goal and it’s Monumental or Monumental when you look at that it’s

00:23:20 like it’s kind of you know it’s a lot of pressure because from the marketing side that has to come from that too so it’s a big deal but it also comes from the fact that if you you can Market all you want if you have a bad team and you have people that don’t care about the customers and aren’t honest with them it’s never going to work yeah because you’re just getting new uh I started this company because of that like we had a company doing I was just the sales manager and it was real Turn and Burn

00:23:42 like I would bring people in we’d start the projects development did a bad job finishing it I wouldn’t get my second paycheck I wouldn’t get the referrals I’d burn Bridges I was like this is no way to yeah you don’t to grow and run a company like it’s just we’re bringing everybody in to get 50% of what we can out of them you know I mean just constantly fighting for that versus having people that love you guys I’m sure you get tons of referrals from Happy customers and that kind of stuff yeah yeah you realize how that the

00:24:08 return customer is probably the biggest you can the marketing is great but return businesses if you don’t have that eventually you run out of people especially in I mean it’s not Redlands is a decent sized town but it’s not that big no you know you start you start upsetting everybody and then next thing you know they’re not they’re using all the other guys cuz there’s a lot of competition out there oh man I can imagine being Plumbing in me it’s just wild saturated too but not like your guys like I always joke cuz I’ve known a

00:24:32 few HVAC company owners and people that work there and stuff and I’m like dude your summer season comes a bunch of techs see how amazing and busy you get and they go spawn their own companies like every every year five techs leave a company and make their own businesses happens all the time we’ve had it happen at ours man they especially because you see the flashing new trucks with this wild looking you know just this really really amazing looking truck and like branding is done really well and ours

00:24:58 ours is great love ours because we have longevity people know us you know um we that’s but that’s kind of why we’re like updating our look a little bit we’re staying true to what we have but we’re dis updating you know to kind of keep up with the trend there definitely um I mean like a big shift from like you know just just the logo and some words on a truck to like the full wraps which you know very much about obviously but yeah like those full wild wraps with now you definitely got to find where that like

00:25:25 where your brand identity fits that and and you you don’t want to I assume you don’t want that like brand new fresh completely fresh look cuz you’re not a fresh company you want that established we do yeah we we’ talked about that we even I’ve even brought a updated character look to our boss and we kind of talked about it and decided that’s not the route to go we want to keep our our tradition and what you know our look but at the same time updating to be more of a a simplistic look bigger logos less

00:25:52 information on the trucks and and make it something that people see and they’re going to spot it logo and a QR code and a phone number that’s it yeah you got to simplify it everything you do Redlands Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning if they don’t get it from that that’s it well me back let’s be honest what 20 30 years ago that the looks nobody cared about the look of what you were doing with your thing now it’s every truck has some kind of animal character or superhero or whatever y a name and then a maybe a

00:26:16 phone number on there and that’s it yeah number what and license number you got to have that too but the uh it’s it’s we’re we’re trying to come into the the you know the the New Millennium with that stuff and try to keep up with that thing but at the same time keeping our our same look nice gotcha this business is the from the challenging part of the marketing side for me is is the how do you make Plumbing interesting right or how do you make HVAC because nobody let’s be honest nobody cares about the

00:26:43 what the plumers doing right right so we’ve kind of taken a different approach we we do we do share our plumbing and our HVAC jobs and and we kind of we put that out there but most of our social media and our our YouTube and all that is more geared towards getting to know our team right so we have uh guys that are out in the field all day they also don’t want to be on camera I mean there’s a couple guys that are like my go-tos you know Marshalls that goto he’s our hype man yeah but uh you know we we

00:27:12 want people to see what our culture is like and to see what we do and like have fun and so like we’re getting ready to do a 12 Days of Christmas starting tomorrow so by the time this thing comes out it’ll probably be done but we’re doing true we’re doing a bunch of that won’t be done we’ll get it out this week all right well that works even better so but yeah I mean it starts tomorrow so we’re going to do 12 days Christmas and then we’re doing all of these different kind of we did that uh Marshall did that

00:27:33 um uh MTV Cribs video so if anybody gets on there check out this video on our social redins and Henry Bush because he goes through and takes you through our office and does a funny thing like what the kids are saying yeah I was gonna say he does it with the yeah the kids speak I don’t know what to call it but yeah it was it was the best and some of the stuff we do it’s it lights up lightens up the office too man it’s great we get those guys coming through there and doing those videos it’s hilarious dude

00:27:55 it kills me but that’s kind of my focus is is my thought is get to us you know everybody knows you can do plumbing we know that but get to know our team and and so you recognize the guys that come out there that’s that’s our our you know the way we want to promote our business well that’s where you’re so uh what’s what stimulated us excuse me what stimulated us filming this podcast kind of right now uh was you came out to check out the equipment because you guys do have a podcast you’re working on to

00:28:20 give that behind the scenes that’s right yeah so we will start that probably right around the 1 of January what we’re going to do is it’s going to be a four-person setup Round Table podcast that we’re setting up um we’re creating a whole studio like what you got in here something kind of cool hopefully and it’s going to be just talking about the industry but not so much technician type or not techie yeah because nobody wants to hear that either about how to fix your your main line well not that but

00:28:46 there’s definitely like opportunity to talk about techies do ity selfie kind of you know leaky faucet spraying in two directions whatever well the cool part is we’re going to we want to do this podcast and and we’re going to also use that studio for like how-tos and like like tips and text things it goes on YouTube you know um but this will be something cool people can just listen to our technicians that are going to rotate out and Marshall and myself and and and guests we’re GNA have from the industry

00:29:11 where we can just chat about stuff and have half business related half you know just talk about whatever comes to mind that’s awesome be cool it’s something different dude nobody nobody’s doing that in our industry gives you a ton of great information for your customers it gives you a ton of content like this is 30 minutes we can get 10 shorts out of this you know 30in video and I would just throw out there just popped in my head but you need some dark wood in your background to fit with that like established with your Redlands and

00:29:40 stuff like that that’d be cool maybe like uh the dark Grays with black out yeah I think that would be cool that W established deep color feeling that would be cool good idea well cool everybody um Mike thanks for being here kind of impromptu I think uh jumped right in and ran with it everybody watch out for the podcast and definitely check out their maintenance stuff because I think there’s great information and great products and services coming from them so check it out yeah check us out at plumbingandair.com and then which

Austin built so you’ll see the nice site we got yeah man and then uh uh also our social media is all Redlands and Henry Bush across the board gotcha cool cool check it out everybody thank you thanks man
